Pollyteach Remembers

big pathces of green grass with leaves on the floor and red poppy plants in a trail leading to a brick house.

As part of our Spiritual, Moral, Social, Cultural (SMSC) Curriculum staff and students visited a local Cenotaph on 11th November. After observing a minute’s silence, some of the students took it in turns to read out loud some First World War Poetry.

We then all walked around the amazing display of poppies and read about some of the local people, who gave their lives in various theatres of war over the last hundred years or so. Everyone was struck by both the number and ages of the casualties. (Many were not much older than some of our eldest students.) It was lovely to see the respect shown and Pollyteach will indeed ‘Remember Them.’
